Child Costume
I have to create a child’s costume for a “doodlebug”,anyone have any ideas?it’s for a child’s school play
The teacher did not give any guidelines and I have no clue where to begin. Has anyone ever made a doodlebug costume? I am thinking of abug with polka dots or wings. When I did a yahoo search for doodlebug it showed me a picture of a nasty looking roach type black bug with big pincers, I cannot imagine that is what I am supposed to create. I have a red cape from an old costume and butterfly wings, I was thinking of combining them somehow. I don;t want my son to look stupid and I am not very handy with sewing, I don;t have a sewing machine but I can sew basic things (I have a sewing kit), any suggestions would greatly help.I would like to just go buy a buyg costume but they said not to buy a costume, to create it. I am lost and I hope another parent out there or seamstress can help me come up with ideas. My child is a boy so I don;t want him to look girly either. Please help.
I hope it’s not too late. I just found your question. I have provided two doodle bug pictures. The way you made a costume is, cut two giant circles (the size of the child) out of butcher paper. Glue together along two sides, leaving head hole and feet hole loose. Also leave arm holes. Then make antennea for head out of pipe cleaners.
