Roald Dahl character fancy dress ideas?

For world book day ( the 3rd of March ), my school is hosting a fancy dress competition, for who can make the best Roald Dahl character fancy dress. I really want to win with a really original idea, but I can’t think of the right character. I’m thinking Willy Wonka, but it’d be hard to find a top hat & purple velvet waistcoat. Any ideas?

I suggest an oompa-loompa. You could also be one of James’s really mean aunts, the fat one, I think it was Aunt Striker or somethng. Ermmm…. OH! You could be the old man that gives James those magic green pill things. Dress as an old man, (simple), carry green jelly beans in a small bag, and go around being generally creepy to everyone for the whole day. You could keep shoving the bag in people’s faces, or you could mimic a drug dealer and try to get everyone to try the "stuff" in the bag.
Have fun with it! I hoped I helped you!

It seems to be that everybody will probably be doing Willy Wonka, so if you want original that wouldn’t be the way to go. You could go as James from James and the Giant Peach (figure out a way to make a giant peach, maybe papier mache?) or you could be Mr. Fox (The Fantastic Mr. Fox) with a suit, ears and a tail.
