Way Zip Pvc
Is it possible to mend a PVC garment that has lost its suppleness through dry-cleaning?
I have a zip-fronted top made mainly from wool but which also has PVC areas on the front and elbow areas. Because of the materials used, dry-cleaning was the only way to clean it. On being returned from the cleaner’s, I’ve noticed the PVC has become extremely rigid and this makes the item difficult to wear.
Any advice on whether anything can be done to improve the flexibility/suppleness of the PVC will be greatly appreciated, as the top was fairly expensive. I didn’t think I’d need to get it insured before cleaning. Thanks very much.
Not really, the drycleaning has removed the pastifiers in the PVC. It is nearly impossible to repair this type of damage. If the label said to dry clean and the garment was damaged by following these instructions you should request a replacement or refund via the retail store or manufacturer.
